GOLF GROUP The Christ Church Golf Group was started in 2005 by Mike Simpson and Allen Snively to share fellowship and have fun as well as provide outreach to guests. It has been successful with approximately thirty players playing during the year with each outing averaging about 10 to 12 players. We play a variety of courses in Jefferson County and even have some outings in southern Indiana, Oldham County, Henry County and in Bardstown and Georgetown, Kentucky. While our purpose is not competition we do have weekly games and at the end of the year dinner we recognize our “Low Net Player” for the year. The group is intended to be a mixed group and several ladies from church have played too. There are about 12 to 15 outings beginning in May and run through August. Information is provided in the Reflections and Church Bulletin at the beginning of the year and sign-ups are accomplished weekly at the main desk at church with confirmation e-mails sent to participants. Most participants have e-mail but we can confirm by telephone if necessary. The Golf Group was started as a recreation small group; however, it has grown to assist Wesley Manor in fund raising through a golf scramble held in the summer. Several of the golf members have given their time to help this event through organization, obtaining sponsors and prizes, and playing. The event has raised over $75,000 the last three years with the Golf Group’s involvement. This has been a very successful small group and it has accomplished the original goals with a good time had by all and we have been joined by several non-church members as guests. Contact Allen Snively at 426-8530.
