Sunday School

At Christ Church we believe that Bible Study and Christian fellowship are essential to the life and ministry of our entire congregation. One means by which we provide this opportunity is through Sunday School. Each Sunday morning, at 10:10, there are groups for every age and interest from pre-school through senior adults.

Adult Sunday School Classes:

We have a large variety of adult Sunday School Classes at Christ Church. All of our classes are involved in mission projects, special activities and social events throughout the year. They strive to build a sense of community among their class members as well as to reach out to new members. Classes vary as to size and format. We encourage visitation of the various classes in order to choose which one best meets your needs.

Homebuilders
This class is designed to meet the needs of families as we work at home and in our jobs to provide for our children and loved ones. We average 30 in attendance. Our children range in age from 20 weeks to 20 years. Our common goal is to gain a greater understanding of what it means to live as a Christian in this difficult and complicated world. Our discussions, which are led by church members, church staff, and each other, can be both controversial and comforting. We encourage you to join us and discover if we are the right small group for you. 253
Young Adult “College and Careers” Class  This class is for all young adults: college-aged to 30s. The class is open to both singles and couples and will deal with issues and topics that are particular to the life and struggles of young adults. Various church leaders will take turns teaching the class, typically on a month-to-month basis. The class sessions will include Bible study and some great discussions. We invite all young adults to join us as we attempt to learn about and explore our faith, wrestle with the issues that are unique to us, and grow closer to God and to one another. 105A
Covenant Focus is Bible Study and they will study a specific book of the Bible each quarter. 251
Daily Bread This Sunday School class began in March of 2003 and is designed for young couples and singles. Their focus is Bible Study. 260
Discovery Class * * * The Discovery Class will not meet during the months of June and July, 2007 * * *
     * * * Watch for information regarding when the class will resume in August * * *

The Discovery Class is for adults of all ages who are new to Christ Church. Both visitors and new members are welcome and encouraged to attend. A different leader within the church will teach the class each week. Each lesson will stand on its own, so it won’t be awkward if you were not here the previous week. The class is designed to help newcomers connect to the life, ministry, and people of Christ Church while providing for them an opportunity for discipleship and growth. If you are visiting Christ Church or otherwise do not have a Sunday School class, we strongly encourage you to try the Discovery Class.

256
Explorers The class is open to all who are interested in exploring the Bible and growing in their Christian faith in a relaxed and informal setting. The class discussion is led by Byron Graham and meets in room 159. 159
First Things First A class of young families and couples in their late 20s to mid 30s, most with children. The class is taught by class members, church staff, and guest speakers from within the church. Lessons are a mixture of Bible Study and topical discussions. 258
Friendship This class offers a good mix of ages, including both married and single adults and is one of our largest Sunday School classes, with an average of 60 in attendance. They are taught by class members and other teachers from within the church. 250
Membership Class If you are interested in joining Christ Church United Methodist, we invite you to attend one of our Membership Classes to explore this opportunity and step in your faith journey. The class will meet on the third Sunday of each month from 10:10 to 12:15, typically in the Fellowship Hall. There will be an opportunity to meet each other and some of the pastors on staff, to ask questions, to discuss what it means to be a Christian, to find out more about Christ Church, and to learn what expectations we have of our members. There will be an optional tour of the building following the class. Please contact Rev. John Hill at john@ccum.net or 897-6421x224 for more information or to register for the class.
