George A. Strunk
Senior Pastor
 Dr.
Strunk’s main goal as Senior Pastor is to use his gifts of preaching,
leadership, and administration in helping Christ Church to fulfill its mission.
Among other things he preaches regularly at three sanctuary services on Sundays,
is a part of a pastoral care team for the 3000 members of Christ Church, and
focuses on leadership and vision for the staff and administrative committees of
the church.
Dr. Strunk became senior pastor at Christ Church in July 2001. He came to Christ
Church from Lexington having served as a District Superintendent for three
years. Previously he was the pastor at First UMC in Richmond, Kentucky for six
years. Other assignments include Winchester, Middlesboro, and Barbourville.
Dr. Strunk earned his BA in 1975 from the University of Kentucky, his Master of
Divinity from Emory University in Atlanta in1978, and Doctor of Ministry from
Emory University in Atlanta in 1992.
Dr. Strunk's wife Pollyanna is a nurse. They were married in 1975 and have three
boys, Zachary (Jenny), Wesley, Andy and one grandson Taylor who was born in
October 2007.
In his leisure time he enjoys golf; snow skiing, water sports, working outdoors,
and playing the guitar.
