Ryan Young

Youth Minister

Ryan joined the CCUM staff in August, 2005. He ministers to our 6th through 12th graders. Ryan’s responsibilities include teaching, leading worship, working on our web site (www.ccum.net/youth) supporting and encouraging families and partnering with lay people to discover and use their gifts in Student Ministry.

Ryan grew up in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada and attended Spring Arbor University in Michigan for undergraduate studies. He met Jesus when he was in his freshman year at Spring Arbor and almost immediately felt a call into ministry. Ryan started out as an intern at Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church in 1993 and was there until 1996. In 1996 He began theological studies at Asbury Theological Seminary. During this time, Ryan worked as a supervised ministry student at Wilmore United Methodist Church. From 1999-2004 he ministered at Centenary United Methodist Church as the minister to high school students. In August 2004, Ryan began ministry here at Christ Church and in December he finished his Masters of Divinity at Asbury Theological Seminary.

Ryan’s parents are Keith and Coral Young who live in Sarnia, Ontario. His brother Josh, wife, Shelly, and niece, Delaney, live in Toronto, Ontario. Ryan met his wife, Erica, in seminary. She is originally from Dallas, Texas. They were married in 1998.

Erica and Ryan enjoy hiking and being outside with their dog, Dora. Ryan likes to read and to watch and collect movies. He also enjoys learning new things about computers.
