Rebecca Heid

Minister to Senior Adults

Rebecca is a native Louisvillian, the youngest of four siblings. She attended a junior college for two years where she took a lot of music courses, then returned to Louisville and attended nursing school at Norton Hospital. She worked as a registered nurse for more than ten years, most of that time in Baltimore, Maryland. While in Baltimore she earned her Bachelor’s degree at the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. Her father’s terminal illness brought her back to Louisville, and for the next several years she ran the family printing business.

Rebecca heard God’s call into full-time ministry in 2001, began studies at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and graduated with the Master of Divinity degree in May, 2005. She is working toward ordination in the Kentucky Conference.

After serving Christ Church in a student capacity for about two years, Rebecca was delighted to become part of the permanent staff in January 2005. As Minister to Senior Adults, she has oversight of Senior Adult programming, makes regular hospital visits, and also keeps up with an extensive list of church members whose health does not allow them to attend services here on a regular basis. She is also available to provide pastoral support to any member of the congregation as needed.

While she went to school full-time and worked part time, Rebecca forgot what the word “hobby” meant! However, she restores herself through frequent walks in the park and participation in the Chancel choir. She now hopes to find a bit more time to sing, renew her piano skills, and keep up with old and new friends.

Due to the nature of her responsibilities, Rebecca’s hours are occasionally irregular. Generally speaking, her schedule is as follows: Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 5:00 to 7:30 p.m.; Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. You may reach Rebecca at 893-2201, ext. 263 or e-mail Rebecca@ccum.net.
