Melanie Williams-Sublett

Director of Music Ministries

Melanie grew up in rural Johnson County, IN. After graduating from high school in Leo, IN (northeast of Ft. Wayne) she went on to earn a B.A. in Music from Hanover College. In 1975, Melanie received her Masters in Church Music from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Beginning as a part-time director for the Carillon Ringers in January of 1990, her responsibilities gradually increased until she joined the CCUM staff full time in 1992.).

Currently, Melanie keeps busy with many tasks including:
• overseeing seven different handbell choirs, ranging from children to adult,
• accompanying the Chancel and High School Choirs,
• playing for most of the church's worship services,
• working with the Worship Team, Clergy, and volunteers to plan Sunday morning worship as well as other special services, and
• assisting Dan Stokes with other administrative aspects of running the music programs at CCUM.

Melanie has many fond memories of her time at Christ Church, including working with the Carillon Ringers as they participated (twice) in the Louisville Orchestra's Christmas Program at the Palace Theater. Treasured memories also include the various High School Choir Tours and the incredible spiritual growth that develops from spending a full week together, trips to different festivals with the Handbell Choirs, and the many magical moments that sometimes occur during the Christmas programs for the community. She has been a member of the AGEHR for 26 years and has served as district leader for the Louisville District and is a past co-chair for Kentucky.

Melanie is married to Dr. Karl Sublett, a veterinarian retired from private practice, who currently works for Federal Safety Inspection Services. Melanie’s two daughters and Karl’s three daughters and nine grandchildren fill up most of her “free” time.

Melanie’s normal office hours are Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (and afternoon and evening rehearsals), Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (and evening rehearsals), Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (and afternoon and evening rehearsals).
