Barbara Schissler

Business Administrator

Barb is a Louisville native and alumni of Waggener High School. She has been a member of Christ Church since her college days and graduated from Murray State University with a teaching degree in Special Education. After marrying Bob, they made a brief stop in Nashville while he completed his Master’s of Social Work Degree. They then moved to Connecticut, Bob’s home state. All this time Barb was teaching special needs children from elementary age to a 5 year stretch in South Windsor, Connecticut maintaining a Resource Room for high school teens with learning disabilities. Both of their careers changed from education to owning a Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream Store at Oxmoor Center back in Louisville while expanding their family to include Sarah and Michael.

During this time, Barb was first employed at Christ Church as part time Director of Children’s Ministries for two years. After 23 years of cake decorating and running the store with Bob, Barb’s bookkeeping and business management experience then turned her to a vocation of Church Business Administration, first at Crescent Hill United Methodist then at Christ Church. She has served here in this capacity since 1996. Her role as Business Administrator includes three primary areas of responsibility: financials, human resources, and technology and is a part of the Finance Committee, Stewardship Committee, Administrative Council, Board of Trustees, and Preschool Advisory Board. She also shares supervision of the Accounting, Facilities, Weekday School, and Communications Departments.

In her personal time, Barb enjoys singing in the Chancel Choir, teaching in adult Sunday School classes, power walking, entertaining, and making all kinds of things for her new granddaughter, Katelyn.
