Group Name: DISCIPLE BIBLE STUDY
Size of Group: Ideally 12 or less
Focus of Group: Disciple Bible Study was developed by the United
Methodist Church to help persons grow in their knowledge and understanding of
the Bible. But in addition to helping persons develop a comprehensive
understanding of the scriptures, this Bible Study is also designed to help
persons grow in their faith and discipleship as followers of Jesus Christ.
Another important emphasis of Disciple is to help individuals discover their
gifts and how these gifts might be used in the church and community. All of this
is done within the context of a small group that offers support, nurture and
encouragement.
Format of Group: 1 ½ to 2 ½ hours per session
Each session consists of a short video, group discussion, prayer and Bible Study
Time Frame:
Length of Study: 32 to 34 sessions.
Length of each Class: 1 ½ to 2 hours
Meeting Day: Varies with each class
Meeting Time: Varies with each class
Preparation Requirements: Daily Bible Readings, prayer and reflection
(Approximately 2 to 4 hours per week)
Leadership: These classes are facilitated by one or more leaders
(preferably someone who has taken Disciple I or who has received the Disciple
Training).

Other Information: After the Disciple Classes have begun, the class
membership should remain constant for the remainder of the 32 or 34 weeks. It is
not recommended that persons join the group in the middle of the study.
