Director of Young Adult Ministries

Christ Church United Methodist

 

Purpose:

Lead CCUM’s efforts to attract and grow Young Adult (ages 18 to 30) membership, discipleship, activities, and participation both directly and through volunteers.  

Responsibilities: 

1.         The primary responsibility of the Director for Young Adult Ministries is to invest in and nurture relationships with young adults, including, but not limited to, regular presence and leadership at related activities and church events.   

2.         Plan events and programming to invite and provide fellowship and discipleship opportunities for young adults. These events and opportunities should include small groups, fun events, worship experiences, and missions/service opportunities.  

3.         Work with church staff, ministry teams, communications director and others to raise congregational awareness of the importance of and emphasis on young adult ministries.   

4.         Provide staff support and resources to the Young Adult Ministry Team including:

·         Spearheading the implementation of the recommendations from the Young Adult Task Force and plan future endeavors.

·         Guiding the team in assessing the spiritual, relational and physical needs of young adults in the community and congregation.

·         Cultivating a large base of volunteers to host events, lead small groups, build and nurture relationships with young adults, and similar efforts. 

5.         Work with the Lay Ministry Coordinator to empower young adults for leadership within the congregation as well as to identify and equip those who feel called to minister with young adults to find opportunities for service.  

6.         Be a part of a task force that explores the desirability and feasibility of an alternate worship service following the completion of a new sanctuary, with special attention given to style, time and location. 

7.         Oversee and plan activities and programs for leisure/recreation ministries for the entire church.

8.         Attend staff meetings, Hub meetings, and perform other duties as required or assigned. 

9.         Continuing Education as needed.  

Accountability:

The Director for Young Adult Ministries is supervised by the Minister for Congregational Care and is accountable to the Staff-Parish Relations Committee. 

Hours:

This position is full time, requiring a minimum of 37.5 hours per week. Competitive salary and benefits. 

Requirements:

The successful candidate will have experience in leading similar church activities and hold at least a BA degree.
