Cub ScoutingCub Scouting is a home- and neighborhood-centered program for boys in first through fifth grades. Through a varied program of skills, sports and outdoor activities, Cub Scouting seeks to achieve these goals:
Christ Church United Methodist sponsors Cub Scout Pack 317. Dens (grade-level groups) meet twice a month, while the pack (all boys and their families) meets monthly. For more information about Pack 317, visit www.pack317bsa.org or contact Cubmaster Victor Gomez at v.gomez@insightbb.com or 502-819-0306. Boy ScoutingBoy Scouting is a program of fun and outdoor adventure for boys ages 11 through 17. The program instills the values of character, citizenship, and fitness through outdoor activities, peer leadership, and personal achievement. Unlike many youth programs, Boy Scouting is designed to be almost entirely boy-run. Christ Church United Methodist sponsors Boy Scout Troop 317. The troop meets each Thursday in the Scout center (on the lower level near the gymnasium). It conducts monthly outdoor activities ranging from overnight campouts to bicycle tours to backpacking treks. Every two years, the troop mounts a major high-adventure expedition to one of the Boy Scouts of America’s three national high-adventure bases. For more information about Troop 317, visit www.troop317bsa.org or contact Scoutmaster James Spurgeon at spurg@insightbb.com or 502-744-5871. VenturingVenturing is the young-adult division of the Boy Scouts of America. This unique co-educational program allows young people ages 14 through 20 to explore specific interest areas in a values-based setting. Venturing’s purpose is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults. Christ Church United Methodist sponsors Venturing Crew 317, which invites young people in high school to join its fun, challenging program.
