Adult Ministries - Current Study Opportunities

Booked for Lunch - 2nd Thursday of each month

Bring your lunch and join us at noon once a month in Room 252 to discuss contemporary books.
May's book:  "The Sisters" by Nancy Jensen. Growing up in hardscrabble Kentucky in the 1920s, with their mother dead and their stepfather an ever-present threat, Bertie Fischer and her older sister Mabel have no one but each other—with perhaps a sweetheart for Bertie waiting in the wings. But on the day that Bertie receives her eighth-grade diploma, good intentions go terribly wrong. A choice made in desperate haste sets off a chain of misunderstandings that will divide the sisters and reverberate through three generations of women.  What happens when nothing turns out as you planned? From the Depression through World War II and Vietnam, and smaller events both tragic and joyful, Bertie and Mabel forge unexpected identities that are shaped by unspeakable secrets. As the sisters have daughters and granddaughters of their own, they discover that both love and betrayal are even more complicated than they seem.  Click to Register

Listening Prayer

This study offers an approach to prayer focused on creating an active personal dialogue with God through Jesus Christ.  During each session, we will identify barriers to hearing God, learn ways to overcome these barriers, and practice prayer by praying for each other.  Nelson Knight will lead this study on Sunday mornings (10 to 11 am) and Sunday evenings (5 to 6:30 pm) in Room 150B.  Come for the entire series or feel free to attend anytime.

Women-Specific

Wednesday Morning Women's Bible Study - starts April 18

Fellowship, bible study, and support are offered through lessons facilitated by Ricki Ashkettle and Shannon DeWeese.  The topic for this session is Kay Arthur's "Returning to the Garden of Eden" which is a 6-week study of what God has to say about our distinctiveness as women from the beginning of time. Kay's straightforward lessons from Scripture focus on love, sex in marriage, purity, modesty, and examples of how men and women should relate to each other. These timely messages are for women, whether married or single, mother or daughter. Kay writes from the perspective of one who has experienced God's grace and voices heartfelt concern for a sex-saturated society that has forgotten how to blush.  We are designer goods, designed by God, no less!
