What Are Bridge Ministries?
Bridge Ministries are means by which we become living proof of God’s love in the places and neighborhoods where people are. Bridge Ministries are a means to build relationships between people groups and between the church and the neighborhood/the neighborhood and the church.
At our baptisms, we renounce wickedness, reject evil, and repent of our sin. We accept the freedom and power God gives us to resist evil, injustice, and oppression in whatever forms they present themselves. Finally, we confess Jesus Christ as our Savior, put our whole trust in his grace, and promise to serve him as our Lord in union with the Church which Christ has opened to people of all ages, nations, and races. Those vows call us to presence and participation with Christ as his love and care transforms us, our neighbors and our neighborhoods.
We are looking for people willing to create bridges across the places that have divided us (physically, spiritually, financially, racially and politically) because we all belong to each other. Eugene Peterson says of Jesus, “The word became flesh and blood and moved into the neighborhood.” We are looking for flesh and blood people who are willing to be present among people Jesus loves.
