How Do I ... ?

How to Become a Member of Christ Church

If you have been visiting Christ Church and are interested in becoming an official member, these are three easy steps to follow:

1. Contact Rev. John Hill, Minister for Evangelism and Young Adults.

You can do this by calling him at 897-6421 (x224), e-mailing him at john@ccum.net, checking the “Wish to Join this Church” box in the Attendance Registration pad at worship, speaking to him in person, or simply coming to the Membership Class.

2.  Attend a Membership Class.

At Christ Church, we take seriously the vow of membership – to support the church with our prayers, presence, gifts, and service.  In order to better understand this vow and to learn more about Christ Church, we offer a Membership Class on the third Sunday of each month from 10:10 to 12:15, typically in Dr. Strunk’s Office (Room 220).  We want our new members to be ready to live into the membership vow, so we strongly encourage them to attend this class before joining.  In special circumstances a prospective new member may meet privately with one of the pastors on staff in lieu of this class.

3.  Our Membership Secretary, Susan Williams, will contact you.

She will check to see if you have decided to join the church and to arrange all the details, including setting a date, transferring membership from another church, or scheduling a baptism if you have never been baptized (a pastor will want to meet with you if this is the case).  When you join, you will join by one of two methods: 1) Profession or Reaffirmation of Faith if you are not currently a member of another church or 2) Transfer of membership if you are currently a member of another church.  We also offer affiliate and associate memberships if you would like to keep your primary membership at another church.

We look forward to exploring the possibility of membership and being in ministry with you.  Please do not hesitate to contact Rev. John Hill with any questions about the membership process.

Are you ready? If so, click here: I Want to Join!

How to Schedule:

A Baptism

Call the Administrative Assistant to the Senior Pastor at 893-2201, ext. 222. She will then check the calendar for the date in question. The date will be cleared with the Pastor and then confirmed with the family. Sometimes an appointment is necessary with the Pastor (especially if the child being baptized is the first such baptism for the couple) and this will be scheduled at the time the baptism date is confirmed.

An Appointment with the Pastors

To schedule an appointment with Dr. Strunk, please call Leigh Ray, Administrative Assistant to the Senior Pastor at 893-2201 ext. 222. To schedule an appointment with one of the associate pastors, please contact them directly.

Birth/Adoption Announcement

Call the Administrative Assistant to the Senior Pastor at 893-2201 ext. 222. She will forward this information to the Pastors, children’s director, and membership secretary to assure that the new child is included in the family information of the membership files. A rosebud will be placed in the front of the sanctuary honoring the child on the following Sunday.

A Wedding at Christ Church

Weddings at Christ Church are for members or children of members. To schedule a wedding, the Pastors' Secretary must first be notified at 893-2201, ext. 222. The secretary will mail a wedding procedure booklet to the bride. Meeting dates will be made for the Pastor to meet with the bride and groom. The secretary will then appoint a church coordinator who will meet with the bride to discuss the wedding policies and fees. The bride and groom will need to have more than one appointment with the Pastor performing the ceremony. An appointment will need to be made with the Music Director to discuss music policies and to select music.

A Funeral

  1. Call the Pastor or the Administrative Assistant to the Senior Pastor, 893-2201, ext. 222, to work out date, location, etc.

  2. Contact the Music Director at 893-2201, ext. 229, for your particular needs.
