"Roof Raising" Weekend

05/09/02:

The starting point - decking in place awaiting the house.

05/10/02: 

First day of work - all exterior and interior walls in place by end of day.

05/11/02:

All roof trusses positioned, rakes attached, roof sheeting 75% completed. Ground blessing ceremony held at lunchtime.

05/17/02:

Rainy day. Front window and door installed. Attic prepared for flooring. Roof boards were completed on Wednesday by some volunteers from Mars Hill, NC. Some plumbing and electrical work done. Roof felt installed.

05/18/02:

All windows and rear entry door installed. Tyvek wrapped around full exterior. Gutter boards prepared. Rear storage space covered with OSB. Starter strips for vinyl placed. Drip edge placed along roof line. Attic stairway installed. Nailer boards for drywall put up.

05/24/02:

Shingles in place on about 1/2 of roof, vinyl corners and F/J channels in place on most of house, soffit started, underneath porch roof begun.

05/25/02:

No work on Saturday due to holiday weekend.

05/31/02 & 06/01/02:

Roofing completed, including ridge vent. Vinyl siding and soffit completed on east and west sides and about 25% complete on front and rear of house. Rear storage room door installed. White metal bent for most areas.
