Christ Church Chancel Choir

Chancel Choir rehearses Wednesdays, 7:30-9 pm. This adult choir provides musical leadership for most Sunday morning worship services in addition to special musical programs with orchestra in the spring and at Christmas. If you are interested in more information about Chancel Choir, contact Dan Stokes, Director of Music Ministries or Ann Guillaume, Music Associate.

Helpful Hints

  • Please be robed, seated and ready to rehearse by 10:35 am for the 11:15 am service and 8:30 am for the 9 am service.
  • We line up along the side walls of the sanctuary hopefully before the prelude begins. As you face the pulpit, the altos are on the right side, the men in the back and the sopranos on the left. It is very important that we remain quiet during this time. Conversations carry all over the sanctuary.
  • Never wear cologne or anything else scented as this causes allergies in some people. DO wear deodorant!
  • We process after the Call to Worship or at the beginning of the Opening Hymn. The men lead so they can go into the choir loft first.
  • Sometimes, you may find yourself in the loft and all of the seats are taken. If that occurs, then quietly go through the chancel door and back out to the sanctuary. If there are no seats available in the pews, then just stand along the wall until we sing.
  • When singing the hymns we generally sing the first and last verses in unison, the others are in parts. (That's because Dan and Melanie often do strange things with the music and no one can sing parts to that!)
  • Watch your program so you will know when lining up during the middle hymn. Watch Dan for instructions on when to move.
  • When we are lining up, keep your eyes on Dan as he may rearrange one, or two or 100 of us.
  • Always be alert and keep your eyes out of the music so we will all be on the same page!
  • Sing from your heart!
